Sunrise at Mam Tor

Where was your image taken?
The image was captured at Mam Tor in the Peak District and is the classic wide shot of The Great Ridge which is around a 30-minute moderate walk from Mam Nick car park. This is a very popular spot with photographers due to the natural leading lines and you will have to arrive early to catch a good spot.
How did you go about capturing it?
Bracketing was used and a total of seven exposures were taken, one-stop apart, which were later combined in Adobe Photoshop and edited in Adobe Camera Raw to give the final image.
What equipment did you use?
The image was captured using a Nikon D850, a Tamron 24-70 mm f2.8 G2 lens and a Manfrotto Befree tripod.
Is landscape photography your main focus?
Although portraiture is my main focus in photography, I do enjoy the challenge of capturing landscape images occasionally.
What advice would you give to others wanting to shoot landscapes?
I do feel that prior planning is vitally important in landscape photography to ensure the capture of good images. The night before a sunrise shoot, I always check the weather and cloud cover to determine if a good sky is likely. Dry weather and high cloud will usually give that sought after glow represented in the image, however, this is not guaranteed. A few little tips are to arrive early and do not just rely on the wide-angle lens when shooting landscape images. I also like to use a 70-200 mm to look for compositions within the wide shot this can be done while waiting for the sun to rise. The other two images were taken here use this technique to give a different perspective to a very popular location.
